Dr. Taj Yarmand is the Founding member and VP of Economic Development at Canada Afghanistan Business Council (CABC). He holds a Ph.D. in Economics and M.Sc. Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Yarmand brings decades of extensive experience both in private and public sectors to help CABC team as well as members. Dr. Yarmand has continued passion and commitment towards helping Afghan entrepreneurs improve their business activities, quality of products and services for local and international markets. His goal is to promote networking in order to build a bridge between Canadian and Afghan Business Communities.
Dr. Yarmand has worked extensively in the area of infrastructure development and humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan, Asia, Europe and North America. He has served people as an educator, coach, engineer, economist, researcher, editor, humanitarian, socio-economic development expert, policy advisor, coordinator and business executive both in public and private sectors. He has also published more than 700 articles and 2 books for university students, engineers and entrepreneurs.
Over his long career, Dr. Yarmand has founded and lead several organizations: Founder and President of Afghan National Norms and Standards Institution; Professor of Engineering and Economics at Kabul and Kabul Polytechnic University; President and CEO Afghan Technology (Pvt) Ltd; UNIDO Senior Industrial and Standard Advisor to Minister of Commerce & Industry I.R. Afghanistan; Strategy and Policy Advisor to Minister of Transport & Civil Aviation I.R. Afghanistan; Chain of Standard & Technology Committee at ACCI; Founding member and VP of Economic Development at Canada Afghanistan Business Council (CABC), Vice President at Inventors’ Association of Ottawa; Founding and board member Afghanistan Intellectual Property Association (AIPA); Founder & President of consulting firm Pyramid Integrated Development Inc.; Founder and VP of the Scholars’ Association Working for Afghanistan Development (SAWAD);
Presently Dr. Yarmand is the Founder and Vice President of The Scholars’ Association Working for Afghanistan Development (SAWAD). It’s an organization comprised of scholars and professionals. SAWAD promotes research, further understanding and integration of development efforts in Afghanistan.
